His twin brother, Shawn, was born in a car in Minnesota. He was born in Wisconsin.
Nate Crouch, the 20 month old son of Jason and Sue (Yehle) Crouch, has battled Esophageal Fistula since he was born.

“It wasn’t so much a problem when he was on formula,” said his mother. “But once he went to solids and baby food the problem started showing up.”
Nate has had some 25 plus procedures in his young life, and the surgeries are now being performed in the Twin Cities.

The family has endured many financial hardships as a result of having to make the almost weekly trips to the metro to help treat Nate.
“He has a stint in his esophogas,” said Sue. ““He has to have the stint put in and taken out every other week, with the stint being placed five times.  This is just the second time.”

The problem may plague young Nate until he reaches maturity and stops growing.
“He’ll be prone to choking,” said Sue.
Along with twin Shawn, the couple have two other children, son Reese, who is seven (is Sue’s stepson) and son Ethan who is three.

Sue’s friend, Jess McCallson is organizing a benefit for Nate which will be held this weekend, Friday, July 25, at the Shellhorn Bar and Grill in Brownsville at 6:00 p.m.
The event will include music and dancing, and a silent auction which will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will include a picture package from Impulse Photography, Cement sculptures, gift certificates from Bluff Country Meats, a wool blanket and many more items.
