13 persons file for county board spots PDF Print

There will be plenty of politicking on the local front this fall, as interest in county government is on the rise.

According to the Houston County Auditor’s Office, 13 persons have filed for three positions on the Houston County Board. Filings closed at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 15.

In District One, currently held by 16-year veteran Larry Graf, who is not seeking re-election, Gregory Husmann, Robert “Bob” Reider, John Meyer and Jack Miller have filed.

District Three, where 16-year incumbent Ann Thompson announced she will not run again, garnered the most interest, as six persons have thrown their hats into the ring. They include Robert Augedahl, Richard “Dick” Kleist, Neil Goetzinger, Bradley King, Loren Lapham, and Joe Welch.

In District Five Tom Bjerke, who has served as a county commissioner for the past four years, has filed for re-election. He will be joined by Brad Hernandez and Brent Newgaard.

Houston County District Court Judge James Fabian has also filed for re-election.

Four persons have filed for the three Root River Soil and Water Conservation District Board  Manager spots that are open. They are: District 3- Glenn Kinnegerg and Roger Stenhoff, District 4- Vernon Fruechte, District 5- Joe McManimon.

The filing period for the Caledonia City County and Caledonia Area School Board is from Aug. 26 until Sept. 9.
