Casey Bradley of Monroe, Wis. is offered new county position

By a unanimous vote, the Houston County Board approved a motion to enter into final negotiations with Casey Bradley, of Monroe, Wis. for the position of County Finance Director. A hiring committee interviewed five finalists for the newly-created position Aug. 11 and brought the recommendation to offer the position to Bradley during the Aug. 12 county board meeting.
“We had five very qualified candidates who we interviewed yesterday, but one rose above the other four,” Commissioner Larry Connery said. “We are currently beginning our budgeting process and I feel we need to move forward with the filling of this position.”
Connery went on to explain that Bradley has two masters degrees, in finance management, and accounting; has six years of military experience, where he was involved in various types of negotiations; and has been working on consolidating several departments in Monroe city government.
Commissioner Larry Graf agreed with Connery and added that while in the military Bradley was involved in disarmament negotiations with the Russian government.
Commissioner Tom Bjerke also voiced his support for Bradley, and pointed out that Bradley has worked with tax increment financing (TIF) districts, which would be a very big plus for Houston County.
Connery made a motion to nominate Bradley for the County Finance Director position and have County Personnel Director Tim Comstock begin salary negotiations. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Dave Corcoran.
“We had some really great candidates for this job, but Bradley was the top choice,” Corcoran said.
The county had nine persons apply for the position. The other four finalists who were interviewed included Linda Bahr, John Kreutzman, Vera Schmidt, and Sheila Schroeder.
