Combines with bean heads were a common sight last week, as the push is on to harvest the soybean crop. Warm, dry weather in September sped up the maturing and drying process, and farmers were able to get out into the fields about the same time this year as they did last year. According to early reports, yields aren’t as good as the record-breaking yields farmers enjoyed in 2007. If the weather holds, the majority of the bean crop should be out this week, and farmers will be zeroing in on the corn crop. Photo by Charlie Warner
