| Moriarty reports athletic director position has viable candidates |
|
By Daniel McGonigle Argus Managing Editor Several internal candidates have expressed interest in the open Athletic Director position at Caledonia Area Schools. Superintendent Mike Moriarty reports that there are “a few good options to choose from internally.” A need to fill the position arose with the retirement of long-time AD Ken Van Den Boom. The district is looking internally to fill the position, but will look to an outside candidate should the need arise. Qualifications The district is looking for a candidate who has a BA/BS and a coaching license and teaching license. Other qualifications include three-years coaching experience and/or administration experience. The AD will report to the middle/high school principal, and will supervise all middle/high school coaches. The job goal is described as: to provide each enrolled student of secondary school age an opportunity to participate in an extracurricular activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasures of sport, and the principles of fair play. The AD will organize and administer the overall program of extracurricular athletics. Interviews are expected to begin soon and no coaches interviews will take place until the district has the AD hired.
