NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR POSSIBLE ORDINANCE ADOPTION CITY OF CALEDONIA, MN NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, That the City Council of the City of Caledonia will be holding a public hearing concerning an Ordinance #93, Open Burning, on June 24, 2013. A complete, "Official Copy," is on file in the Office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 231 East Main Street, which may be reviewed during regular office hours. Following is the Title and a summary of the major divisions of the Ordinance. Chapter 93, FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION: FIREWORKS 93.19 OPEN BURNING RESTRICTED is hereby amended by repealing the section in its entirety and adopting the following in lieu thereof: 93.19 OPEN BURNING RESTRICTED. No person shall allow cause or permit open burning, except that open burning is permitted in the following circumstances: 1.Disaster Rubbish. The open burning or rubbish, including landscape waste, for the duration of the community disaster period in cases where an officially declared emergency condition exists. 2.Recreational Fires. Open fires for cooking, heating, recreation and ceremonies, provided the fire has a total fuel area of two (2) feet or less in diameter and two (2) feet or less in height. Fuel is limited to clear wood (no chemicals or additives) or charcoal. Recreational fires cannot be conducted within twenty-five (10) feet of a structure or combustible material, unless contained in an enclosed barbecue grill or a commercially manufactured patio burner, which has legs elevating the unit off the ground and has the burning area completely enclosed with screen. Recreational fires must be fully extinguished by 12:00 a.m. (midnight) and shall not burn between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.
