Board Meeting Minutes October 22, 2012 Prior to the regular school board meeting, the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 299, Caledonia, Minnesota, met in the Brownsville Community Center in Brownsville, Minnesota, at 7:00 p.m. to discuss with the public the upcoming One-day Bond Election to be held on November 6, 2012. The board shared information about the one-day bond and various comments and questions were asked of the board with the discussion lasting approximately thirty minutes. The Board of Education of Independent School District No. 299, Caledonia, Minnesota, met in a regular school board meeting in the Brownsville Community Center in Brownsville, Minnesota. The meeting was called to order by Chair Michelle Werner at 7:36 p.m. The school board members present were John Klug, Melissa Marschall, Kelley McGraw, Jean Meyer, Michelle Werner, and Spencer Yohe. Also present were Superintendent Ben Barton, Paul DeMorett, Nancy Runningen, Barb Meyer, Karen Schiltz, Emily Bialkowski, Janelle Field Rohrer, Brian Bauer, Kerry Schaller, Kendra Rohrer, and Jared Barnes. Board Meeting Minutes November 9, 2012 The Board of Education of Independent School District No. 299, Caledonia, Minnesota, met in a special school board meeting in the District Office to canvass the election results. The meeting was called to order by Chair Michelle Werner at 12:04 p.m. The school board members present were Melissa Marschall, Kelley McGraw, Jean Meyer, Michelle Werner, Barb Meyer, and Karen Schiltz. Absent were Directors John Klug, Scott Longhorn, Spencer Yohe, and Superintendent Ben Barton. Member Jean Meyer moved the adoption of the Resolution Canvassing Returns of Votes of School District Special Election. As specified in the Abstract and Return of Votes Cast, at said election a total of 4,054 voters of the school district voted on the question of authorizing the issuance of school building bonds for a school acquisition and betterment program (SCHOOL DISTRICT BALLOT QUESTION 1), of which 1,782 voted in favor, 1,093 voted against the same, and there were 0 completely blank or defective ballots related to this question. Said proposition, having received the approval of at least a majority of such votes, is hereby declared to have carried. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Melissa Marschall and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Melissa Marschall, Kelley McGraw, Jean Meyer, and Michelle Werner. The following voted against the same: None. Absent were Directors John Klug, Scott Longhorn, and Spencer Yohe. Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Jean Meyer moved the adoption of the Resolution Canvassing Returns of Votes of School District No. 299 general election. As specified by the Houston County Auditor's Office, a total of 4,054 voters of the district voted at said election on the election of three school board members for four-year term vacancies caused by expiration of term on the first Monday in January next following the general election as follows: Jared Barnes – 4 year term 1,731 Votes Jean Meyer – 4 year term 2,228 Votes Spencer Yohe – 4 year term 2,005 Votes Candidates Jared Barnes, Jean Meyer, and Spencer Yohe having received the highest number of votes, are elected to four year terms beginning the first Monday in January 2013. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Director Melissa Marschall, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Melissa Marschall, Kelley McGraw, Jean Meyer, and Michelle Werner.
