Many residents of the Houston area are familiar with the story of Mary Rostad, the Belgian teenager who sabotaged Nazi cars and tanks, carried messages, and smuggled arms and ammunition during World War II as a member of the Belgian resistance and French underground.

On April 5, the story contained in her book, "Squirrel is Alive," became part of the annual Teaching the Holocaust Educators Workshop held at Viterbo University. Squirrel was Mary Rostad’s code name during WW2.
