On April 18, Mainspring was packed with business people from southeast Minnesota who were attending a Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF) Sprout event.

Tim Penny is the President & CEO of Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF). He said a few years ago they changed an annual meeting to the Sprout business after hours networking event. His staff had toured the area to see how some of the SMIF grants were spent. SMIF's motto is collaborating for regional vitality.
